Young racer Reece Rothwell is sure to have the crowds holding their breath next Spring after revealing glimpses of professional potential in his first Superstock test.

The ambitious competitor rose from thirty-eighth to eleventh place in just two laps before a slippery corner sent him crashing his Triumph Daytona 675 into the dirt.

He says the dramatic highs and lows of this weekend left him determined to make his mark next year.

“I’ve already learnt my lesson there. The rainy weather and greasy conditions meant you had to be sharp or you were bound to go skidding off.

“I’ll be saving up for a new 2010 Triumph with all the extras for next season – and practising my corners. But I’m looking forward to it.”

After graduating from the Triumph Triple Challenge in third place this year the 18-year-old took on the heavyweights in the final National Superstock 600 wild card race for 2009.

The contender is sponsored by Ghostbikes.com, a Preston-based biking company selling a whole range of helmets, boots, stands and biking kit. When he is not on his bike or blogging about his achievements at www.reecerothwell.com Rothwell works as their product marketer and tester, ensuring their range is fit for the road.

Ghostbikes’ sales director Ian Moore says they will be following Reece all the way next year.

Reece was one of three invited to Clermont-Ferrand to tour the tracks and try out the latest gear on Michelin’s motorcycle test routes.

The 18-year-old said he was thrilled to take part.

He added: “We got to test five or six of their best bikes out – some of them I’m not allowed to ride in this country yet so it was an amazing experience.”

To celebrate ranking high in the T3 races this year the group were also given the opportunity to take to the road on Michelin’s 550 quads.

Reece said: “They were like monsters – absolutely huge – and we got to drive them across a massive wilderness. It was amazing.”

The young competitor, from St Helens Road, Bolton, is sponsored by Ghostbikes, a market leader in motorcycle clothing, Pit Bikes and accessories in the UK and Europe. When Reece isn’t competing across Britain he assists the company in picking their range of products and testing they meet a real biker’s standards.
