The Agrius Alpha Motorcycle Boots

Hey, everybody! I’m still talking about Agrius stuff and this time it’s a pair of boots- The Agrius Alpha Motorcycle Boots. I picked up a pair of these for myself recently so I will do my best to get through all my thoughts and points on them

The first thing I want to say about these boots is that I love them. I’m usually a size 10 in normal shoes and had to go up to an 11 in these boots, no real surprise there but these boots are the most comfy boots I’ve worn in a while. And that’s coming from a guy who’s last two pairs of boots were RSTs and Frank Thomas. I’m pretty much living in these boots, wearing them all day- wearing them right now, in fact. Since I commute to work on my bike- I wanted a pair of boots that I could put on, leave on and save myself the time of having to change footwear. And I don’t regret my choice at all.

The boots are made from a bonded leather, so they’re plenty tough and protective but my feet don’t feel trapped. I have enough movement and flexibility to keep comfortable and walking in them is almost like wearing a pair of regular boots. The boots have a velcro closure that goes the full length of the boot but the zip only goes about half way up, so there’s plenty of breathing room at the upper section, gives plenty of space if you prefer to tuck your trousers into them and the boot is quick and easy to slip off with little space for the zipper to go wrong or break. The leather paneling on the boots look cool and they even have stretch paneling on the back of the calf for a bit of extra give where it’s needed. They also have reflective paneling but limited it to the back of the heel- a thought out placement for them and it’s not so much that it ruins the look of the boot.

With what I do here at Ghostbikes.com I can be sat here like I am now working on blogs or I can be in the shop, running back forth to fetch stock all day and these boots have done nothing but look after me. I’ve done the same thing in my RSTs and my Frank Thomas boots but its only since switching to my Agrius Alpha boots that I’ve realised that my feet don’t ache after a long day of being constantly on the move. They have a comfort insole that has been made with a triple density construction and support in the arch to keep everything feeling snug but supportive. Its also anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and moisture wicking to keep your feet dry and comfortable. They’re also waterproof- after I get home from a wet ride out I’m always pleasantly surprised to find my feet are dry after wearing other pairs of not-so-waterproof boots for so long. For warmth and yet more comfort, the boots have a lining made from Polyester and an open cell foam to make the interior soft and work better at trapping warm air inside the boot. It does the job well enough but I recommend wearing thick socks with these boots just for a little extra warmth- especially on wet or cold days. Today is one of those days where I’m sat down and not moving about as much, so I have on my Oxford Longsocks and I’m plenty happy.

Unlike some boots I’ve owned, I’m not slipping around and nearly breaking a bone when I wear them off the bike. The Agrius Alpha boots have a non-slip rubber sole so that your feet can keep a good grip on whatever surface your feet are on which is especially handy for people like myself who have a lot of smooth, laminate flooring and tend to go skating into the house after it’s been raining. Not a problem for me anymore, though! As an added bonus, the boots have a Polyurethane gear lever pad on the top and side. It’s fairly flexible, so it’s not adding a rigid portion to the boot and affecting the comfort or flex of the over all boot and it also protects the boot against the gradual wear they would otherwise face from shifting gears.

I love these boots, that’s all I can really say about them. My opinion of them might be slightly tilted by the fact that I’ve had to deal with other, old, sub-par boots for so long but they really are fantastic. They’re everything I’ve wanted out of a motorcycle boot for quite a while and I didn’t even break £50. At £47.99 they’re absolutely excellent value for money, so much so that I’m considering a second pair so I can keep one for work and another pair to keep nice and tidy for days off and holiday rides out.

Advice on Purchasing Motorcycle Boots and Shoes

Hello everyone! It’s been brought to my attention that one of the more common questions we get here at Ghostbikes.com is regarding shoe and boots sizing. So I thought it might be helpful of me to make a blog post that you all can refer to with a bit of advice on shopping for new motorcycle footwear.

The first piece of advice I can give is this- Do not go thinking the rules apply to all the boots you may want to try on. Depending on the brand, the style of boots, the shape of the boots and the features on/in the boots- the game can change between almost every pair. You may find you’re a size 9 normally in your trainers and then you jump up to a 10 in one brand and style of a motorcycle boot and then to an 11 or a 12 in another. I see it happen a lot and it’s nothing to be concerned or self conscious about- you don’t have freakish feet and you’re not being a pain. This is simply just the nature of buying motorcycle gear in general- no two brands or styles are the same and it’s a common occurrence even when trying on jackets, trousers, helmets, and gloves. We all come in different shapes and sizes so it’s all about finding something right for you.

Second piece of advice- Try going up a size. Typically your boots will wear in and give a bit of extra room after some time, which can throw off your expectations if you’ve been trying on someone else’s boots for fit. But bike boots tend to be tight by nature, if you’re a size 10 foot trying to get into a size 10 motorcycle boot, nine time out of ten- you’re going to feel the squeeze. So going for the size 11 might be all the extra room you need.

Another good thing to do, if possible, is to come in-store and try the boots on before you buy them. I know it’s not ideal if you don’t live local but it’s far better to be able to come in store, try something on and know whether it fits you or not before you leave with it. You may have your heart set on a certain pair such as the Akito Stealth Motorcycle Boots only to find that no matter the sizes you go up in- the narrowness of the boot is just too tight for people with broad feet. Believe me, I’ve seen it, I’ve had customers desperately telling me that they’re sure they’re a size 9 but find even a size 12 is too tight in that particular boot. If this is happening to you, don’t worry, it’s not your fault and we believe you that you’re normally a size 9. The shape of the boot just isn’t for you. But what we will do in that case is direct you to alternatives and do what we can to sort you out with something that is comfortable. So being able to pop in-store is much better at accomplishing this, as you can imagine.

Don’t be afraid to phone in, email or comment on social media with questions. If you’re wondering whether you should go up a size or not in a particular boot, you can always ask. Maybe you feel you have broader feet? Concerned the boots you’re coming all the way for might be a bit too narrow? Measure the width of your foot at it’s widest point and again in the middle from the arch to the outer side- if we’ve got it here, we’ll take the same measurements of the boot it’s self and let you know.

Another piece of advice I can share is to wear socks that aren’t to thick or too thin. Find a pair of socks in your drawer that is a sort of happy medium between your winter and summer selection. This is so that when you’ve found a pair that fits while wearing your thinnest pair of socks- you’re not going to discover they’re too tight when you try the boots on while wearing a thick pair of socks. With a medium pair you’ve set a good middle ground for the spring and autumn with a perfect fit. You’ve got a little extra breathing room and ventilation in the summer with thin socks. And you’ll have room enough for a thick pair of socks with a snug fit for the winter.

Is there something about sizes that has you confused? Maybe you’re a size 9 but don’t know if that means you’re also a 43 or a 44. If you take a look at the conversion chart above- you can see where you fall in that scale too. You can also see your size in US measurements too as some of our boots, such as our Oneal Motocross Boots, have the US sizes on the box. Don’t fret, you haven’t magically gone up yet another size, the US just starts their measurements from 1 instead of from 0 like us, which is why you’re always a shoe size bigger over there.

So, in summary:
– Consider yourself one size higher in bike gear [9/10 times it works]
– Wear a medium thickness pair of socks when trying them on
– Come in-store if at all possible
– Take measurements if you’re unsure and message in for help
– Don’t worry or get self conscious if the boots you want don’t fit like you hoped. We can help.

The Black MX Enigma Motocross Boots Detailed Look

In today’s blog installment I’d like to tell you about an item that we’ve had for a while but has had an update worth talking about.The Black MX Enigma Motocross Boots are CE Level 2 certified! With ever increasing standards for safety, the boots have been put to the test and those standards have been met. So let me tell you a bit about the boot it’s self.

The Black Enigma is one of our most popular MX boots. It’s tall, it’s tough and it looks great whether you ride off road in MX gear or on the road and prefer a bigger boot. But depsite the size, all the padding, armour and strappings, the boot is quite light as far as MX boots go. The outside of the boot mostly speaks for it’s self. It’s a sturdy boot with protection all over the place from the whole of the inner side of the foot to the toes, ankles, calf and a steel reinforced plate on the toe.

There’s even double stitching in the key areas to ensure that this boot can stand up to the abuse it can come under in the harsh, offroad riding environments. There are four straps and buckles on each boot, they’re adjustable for length too so you can customise the fit to your leg and adjust for having the bottoms of your pant legs tucked in. The buckles and straps are made of a durable polymer but have metal pins that hinge the fastening and another metal pin in the end of each strap that keeps them securely in place when the boot is all buckled up. And also, the contoured, reinforced soles make the boots more comfortable to wear when on pegs but have been specifically designed for maximum grip whether you’re on or off the bike.

Lets move on to the inside! Looking in at the top, you’ll notice the elastic collar, this is there to form a gentle seal around the calf and it’s there to help limit the amount of dirt and gravel that inevitably gets into the boots when riding offroad. The upper half of the inside has a soft touch lining for a bit of extra comfort and it adds a little more room for tucking in the ends of pants legs.

In the lower half that surrounds the foot it is lined with a breathable Air Mesh that assists in keeping the feet cool. This boot even has a built-in micro fibre suede heat shield, it’s thought of all the things an MXer really needs. But lets move on to why I’ve written about this boot- The boot is CE Level 2 rated to the latest safety standards, moving it on from the old 13634:2010 standard from October 2015 to the 13634:2015 standard of the present day- In short and put simply, they’re one of the most protective boots on the market to date.
