Hello, everyone! The content of this blog post is a bit new to me as I’ve never really done anything on cars before. And I certainly didn’t expect I’d be talking about cars in a blog entry today! But Scorpion have released an exhaust system for the Volkswagen Polo GTi 1.8T 9n3 and I was asked to have a look at it, so I’ll do my best to cover as much information as I can!
They’re designed specifically for the Volkwagen Polo GTi 1.8T 9n3 2006-2011 models, so if you like the look of the exhausts, I’m afraid you won’t be able to put them on anything else. Or if you do manage to find a way to fit them to anything else, they’d no longer be covered by Scorpion’s lifetime guarantee, just a heads up.
There are two types this exhaust with different Cat-Back Systems- the Resonated and Non-Resonated Cat-Back System. A resonator is a chamber in the exhaust system that contains a specific volume of air that cancels out certain frequencies of sound that are made by the engine and makes the exhaust quieter. A non-resonated exhaust system doesn’t have this chamber so it will give you extra performance and a louder exhaust. So a Resonated system is quieter with better performance and a Non-Resonated system is louder with better performance.
If you’re after a more complete exhaust system, there are also a couple of down pipes available for this system too. There’s a Scorpion De-Cat Turbo-Downpipe and a Scorpion Turbo-Downpipe + Sports Cat. Sports Catalysts increase the amount of gas flowing through while maintaining filtration rates. The Decats just replace the catalyst completely for maximum flow rate. The Catalyst is a key component in controlling your vehicles emissions and its also the most restrictive part of an exhaust.
So why get a Scorpion Exhaust? Well there are benefits to getting a better exhaust system. A good exhaust can increase the performance of your vehicle as well as decrease the weight, even if only by a kilogram or two. You also get a lifetime warranty with Scorpion, so if your exhaust ever develops a defect due to corrosion or a manufacturing error, you’re covered and they’ll sort you out with a new one for free.
Fitting the exhaust is easy too, if you plan on doing it yourself. Fitting instructions are included and they’re very simple to follow for putting the exhaust together. The instructions say it should take about 2 hours to fit your new exhaust but its so straight forward I think that’s a generous estimate.
It may take up to 30 days for dispatch though when you order your exhaust. Most Scorpion Exhausts are standard Stock and will be with you in a few days, but some are a bespoke items that are, made to order. So the 30 day dispatch estimate given is really just a guideline. Scorpion can get high order volumes so sometimes there can be a delay. If you require an exhaust for a specific date, please order well in advance to ensure that you receive it in good time. On the plus side- you know that you’ll be getting a top notch exhaust that has gone through all of Scorpion’s strict quality assurance measures to ensure that you’re getting a reliable product.
So if you’re interested in getting a new Scorpion Polo GTi 1.8T 9n3 06-11 Exhaust, you can get a resonated or Non-Resonated version with black or steel finishes from £404.10 to £494.10. But, if you think you can find it elsewhere cheaper, we’ll match the price. We may even be able to beat it too, so let us know!
Thanks for reading, everyone. I hope I fumbled my way through talking about car exhausts sufficiently but if you do have any questions, leave me a comment and I’ll get back to you as soon as I’m able! Until next time!
