The Knox Ivy and Ivan Waterproof Motorcycle Trousers

Hey, everyone! I decided I’d take a look at these two pairs of pants and make a blog about them. I say “two pairs ” but they’re really the same pants, just in a Men’s and a Women’s fit. They’re the Knox Ivy Ladies Waterproof Motorcycle Trousers and the Knox Ivan Waterproof Motorcycle Trousers.

I decided to look at these pants as they look quite smart. they could both easily be mistaken for a pair of smart-casual pants. A businessman or businesswoman could throw on a pair of these instead of the usual kind of biker trousers and no one would know. Find a suit jacket to match the colour and you’ve got yourself a good pair of biker pants to hurry on to business meetings with or something. Or any formal occasion, really. Or informal if you prefer- it’s just they look so smart to me.

They’re made from a stretchy, high performance, tri-laminate, waterproof fabric with a 10k membrane. Already, these specs make this pair of pants a comfortable option for a commuter who needs to look snappy when they arrive or if you just want a decent pair of motorcycle pants that look good. The stretch that the fabric gives also means that it should adapt to your riding position and keep the waist band from dropping lower and keep the bottom of the trouser legs from bunching up from bending the knees.

But waterproofing alone isn’t enough, they need to be protective if you’re going to choose these over your usual motorcycle pants. And more protection is what they have- the Ivy and Ivan trousers are fully lined with DuPont Kevlar for the best and most abrasion resistance you can get. So if you do happen to have an accident while riding in these, your skin is safe even if your fancy new pants will be a bit scuffed. The trousers also come with CE approved MICRO LOCK Knee and hip armour installed. If you want to remove the armour either because you prefer to ride without or you want them out while you’re wearing the trousers off the bike- you can! The armour pocket openings are actually on the exterior of the trousers instead of on the inside, making armour removal and installation really quick. What’s more impressive is that the armour pocket openings are so incognito that no one would know they were there! The knee pockets are even adjustable so that you can fit the armour precisely and comfortably.

The trousers have a slight flare to them so that the ends of the trousers can fit over motorcycle boots. This is especially useful for wetter rides and keeps water from getting in through the top of your boots. The hem of the trouser legs also have cord adjusters so that you can secure the trouser leg over the top of your boots.

Once again, Knox has delivered a classy, quality product. The £229.99 price tag may seem steep but when you consider Knox to be a well known designer brand and then consider the advanced materials, the Kevlar lining and the armour- £229.99 is actually pretty good. You’re getting a lot of protection, a lot of weather versatility and it’s all disguised as a smart and comfortable pair of trousers.

Black Ladies Leather Jackets!

Hey, everyone! We’re still very pleased with our own brand range of Leather Motorcycle Jackets I’ve already made a blog entry for the men’s jackets so it’s high time I gave the ladies’ jackets the spotlight. There are two models of ladies leather jacket and both come in two colours. The Black Artemis and The Black Athena.

Like the men’s jackets they share a few features in common with each other. To starts, one of the biggest selling points of these jackets, in my opinion anyway, is the armour. The jackets come fully armoured with CE level 2 viscoelastic soft armour, the highest safety rating motorcycle armour can get. It’s a big deal to me because most jackets will only have armour in the shoulders and elbows and then they’ll make you go out and buy a back protector. But not our leather jackets from Black- they’re as safe and fully armoured right off the rail and ready to ride.

They’re made of real, genuine leather. Nothing fake or polymer like Pleather, only the real deal as nothing else compares when it comes protection.

Something to note about these jackets is that they are a snug fit, so if at all possible- I recommend coming in to our showroom to try them on while you’re wearing similar clothes to what you would normally wear under the jacket. This is so that you can get the best size suited to you, for a more fitted look and get the best performance out of the jacket.

The Black Athena Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jacket
Starting right away with my favourite of the ladies leather jackets, the Black Athena just looks awesome. Whether in the black or brown the jacket looks classy, custom and has a slightly aggressive look that gives the jacket a proper bikerbabe vibe that means business.

The jacket has plenty of zips, all genuine YKK, giving you loads of places to store small valuables like your phone and wallet. They can also provide a bit of adjustability in the wrist and waist. It’s a really unique looking jacket that can suit lots of different riders and their styles. Clean leather panels that look smart and a short cut with exposed zippers that throws a bit of punk into the mix.

The jacket also has a removable thermal lining that can be taken out to give a little more room inside or if the jacket is a bit warm for you. Personally I like mine without the liner so I can wear my hoodie underneath for a bit more warmth while I’m riding [My Leather Jacket that is, I don’t wear ladies clothes]. To keep the jacket from riding up while you’re leaning forward or reaching for the handlebars, the Black Athena has belt loops to connect the jacket to your belt and a short connector zip to link with a compatible zip on a pair of motorcycle trousers.

The Black Artemis Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jacket
This jacket has a really unique look. It’s very different compared to the other Black branded leather jackets which is really cool in it’s own right. I’ve seen lots of ladies motorcycle jackets that are just clones of men’s jackets but with a feminine cut, so it’s really cool that the Black Leather Jackets are their own, individual items with their own character. And the character in the Artemis jacket is totally different from the Athena. The Artemis is a bit less aggressive but has a much more classic style, rounded off by the unique ridges on the shoulders.

The Artemis, like it’s sibling jacket, has a removable thermal liner that you can keep in if you’re cold or you can take out if you’re hot. You can also remove it to adjust the fit if you want a little more room inside the jacket to layer up with jumpers and shirts. The liners are really easy to put in and take out, held in by one long zip and a few popper toggles in the main body and sleeves.

There’s not as many zips on the Artemis as on the Athena but there’s still plenty of places to store belongings. The two zips you would usually find on the front of the jacket are on the sides of the jacket instead, a unique feature that keeps your belongings from getting trapped between you and your bike’s tank. This prevents any scratches to the tank and saves you from feeling your front door key jabbing you during a harsh stop. A great idea that also looks very stylish. There are also pockets inside, a velcro pocket in the liner and a zippered stash pocket a bit higher up.

If you find your jacket tends to lift in a forward lean or as you’re reaching for your bars, you can prevent this by using the belt loops or the long connector zip with a pair of motorcycle pants that has a compatible zip. This will keep the jacket down and in place so that you are more comfortable and your armour will stay in the right place to do its thing. For £190 each [prices accurate 1/6/18] they’re a brilliant bit of leather.

NEW! Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jackets!

Hey, everyone! We’ve had them for a while but now that both of the jackets are fully listed on the website- I’m happy to present another couple of leather motorcycle jackets to our Black range and they’re ladies jackets as well! The Black Artemis and the Black Athena Ladies Leather Motorcycle Jackets. There’s not enough selection for ladies biker gear in market, so we’re happy to bring our own range and bring a little something to the table. And I’m certain that the biker ladies out there will love these leather jackets- they’re protective and they look awesome!

First up, I’ll talk about the Black Artemis, easily distinguishable from its sister by the ridges on the shoulders and less zips, this jacket just radiates a classic, ladies leather jacket style. If you’re on a more classic, retro or custom looking ride then this jacket is definitely for you but it also works excellently as a casual jacket as well.

Protective cow leather, full CE level 2 viscoelastic soft armour in the shoulders, elbows and back, brilliant looks- at £190 it’s an absolute bargain whether you plan to wear it on or off the bike.

Next is the Black Athena, my favourite of the two new ladies leather jackets for it’s more punk-y and rebellious style being available in black and having more zips. But it still keeps it’s classic charm making it a great choice for a rider looking for a new jacket that suits a more custom ride or something to blend in a little bit of everywhere.

Made of goat leather it’s comfortable, maneuverable and flexible while still being protective. Like it’s sister it also features the full, 5 piece CE level 2 viscoelastic soft armour in the shoulders, elbows and back. That means the armour is nice and flexible while being worn but in an impact it turns to solid rubber and disperses impact forces to protect you. Very cool stuff inside a very cool jacket – at £190 it’s another brilliant jacket for under £200 whether you plan on wearing it on the bike or as part of a casual outfit.

A bit of advise, though- I highly advise coming in store to try them on for size. They’re a bit of a snug fit, mixed results for the fit depending on the person as there’s no two people exactly the same shape or size. So I would recommend going a size up from normal if you can’t make it in store to try them on.

The Black Salus Ladies Motorcycle Jeans

Hey, everyone! It’s constantly brought to our attention that the selection of ladies motorcycle gear is somewhat lacking. There’s often no variety and a lot of the gear that is available is just a ladies cut of the men’s gear with some pink thrown on it. And most lady bikers I’ve spoken to tell me that they hate pink, or rather hate that most ladies gear is defined by having pink on it. Well you’ll be glad to know that the Black Salus Womens Motorcycle Jeans don’t have a speck of pink on them but do come in a few colours.

I know it’s quite cold out right now, so not many bikers are looking to wear their Kevlar Jeans on a ride out. But These jeans would still make a great gift for the holidays, a brilliant little treat to yourself ready for the warmer weather and even make a great pair of regular, casual jeans. No one would assume they were motorcycle jeans if you turned up to a social gathering wearing them with a normal outfit. So they’re fantastic if you’re looking for something to wear in the summer, throw on before a ride and be comfortable leaving them on while hanging out with friends once you get there.

The outer shell material is a little bit more stretchy than most pairs of jeans which is a great feature for a pair of jeans where, when you’re sat on the bike, the fabric will stretch over then knees instead of pulling over them uncomfortably. Beneath the outer material, in the most danger-prone areas such as the knees, sides of the thighs and buttocks, you will find the Kevlar lining. It’s 100% 250gsm Original DuPont Kevlar, so you’re getting a great amount of abrasion resistance if the worst does come to pass and you find yourself in a slide down the road.

It doesn’t come with any armour in the knees but it does have the pockets there for it, giving you the option for an aftermarket upgrade for a bit more impact protection. It may just look like ladies cut version of the men’s Ballistic Jeans but at least there’s not a bit of pink in sight, the available colours being black, blue or olive. The Black Salus Womens Jeans are available in waist sizes 6 [EU34] through to 20 [EU48] in standard and short leg lengths. They’re available online and in-store but I will always advise coming into our Preston showroom for a visit and to try a pair or two on for the best fitting results but if it makes you feel any better- The Black Salus Ladies Motorcycle Jeans are currentlyselling at just £90.00.

The Alpinestars Stella T-Jaws Motorcycle Jacket

Hey, everyone! The weather is getting dimmer more regularly now, so I’ve been looking around a lot for decent kits to get a rider through the typical Autumn and Winter weather scenarios. We’ve had a lot of Alpinestars gear come in and as the proud owner of a pair of the Alpinestars Roam 2 Boots, I know that their products are the real deal for great quality when it comes to long lasting weather protection.

So I decided to bring one of our ladies Jackets into the spotlight- The Alpinestars Stella T-Jaws WP Jacket! It’s a sport-tour cut jacket with a sleek, aerodynamic style while focusing on superb weather versatility underneath as well as safety. It’s a really great ladies Alpinestars jacket.

The jacket is made from a poly fabric outer shell with areas of lightweight 450D and 600D reinforcements in critical areas. This makes a safe and sturdy shell that is designed to keep the weight of the jacket down while still being flexible and plenty strong enough to save your skin in an accident.

It has great options for the weather too. The thermal liner inside the jacket is detachable, so you can keep it in to stay warm on cold rides or remove it for a little more room to breathe on warmer days. Also for the warmer days, the jacket has vents on the shoulders that can be unzipped and opened for the best air circulation through the jacket. The jacket is also waterproof with a waterproof internal pocket for keeping what valuables you put in there safe. Just make sure those vent pockets are zipped closed for the best waterproofing results.

It comes with elbow and shoulder armour already installed, unfortunately it doesn’t come with a back protector but you can still purchase the Nucleon Back Protector seperately to go into the back protector pocket. There’s even a compartment for a ladies chest protector, so you have the option to really maximise your impact protection. Chest protector compartments are a feature I’m noticing in a lot more jackets lately and I think they’re a great idea.

The jacket has also been made for comfort as well as safety, the sleeves of the jacket are pre-curved so breaking the jacket in isn’t going to be as much of a chore and strain your arms on a ride. And there are select areas of stretch paneling for better freedom of movement, giving you plenty of flex in places like the elbows.

There are loads of extras in the jacket as well, adjust-ability for the best fit to you, a connection zipper for joining with Alpinestars pants, integtrated reflective graphics for being seen in low-light and more. Alpinestars are well known for excellent quality and long-lasting gear. This jacket will serve a multi-weather rider on their morning and evening commutes and tour bikers admirably.
