The Black Salus Ladies Motorcycle Jeans

Hey, everyone! It’s constantly brought to our attention that the selection of ladies motorcycle gear is somewhat lacking. There’s often no variety and a lot of the gear that is available is just a ladies cut of the men’s gear with some pink thrown on it. And most lady bikers I’ve spoken to tell me that they hate pink, or rather hate that most ladies gear is defined by having pink on it. Well you’ll be glad to know that the Black Salus Womens Motorcycle Jeans don’t have a speck of pink on them but do come in a few colours.

I know it’s quite cold out right now, so not many bikers are looking to wear their Kevlar Jeans on a ride out. But These jeans would still make a great gift for the holidays, a brilliant little treat to yourself ready for the warmer weather and even make a great pair of regular, casual jeans. No one would assume they were motorcycle jeans if you turned up to a social gathering wearing them with a normal outfit. So they’re fantastic if you’re looking for something to wear in the summer, throw on before a ride and be comfortable leaving them on while hanging out with friends once you get there.

The outer shell material is a little bit more stretchy than most pairs of jeans which is a great feature for a pair of jeans where, when you’re sat on the bike, the fabric will stretch over then knees instead of pulling over them uncomfortably. Beneath the outer material, in the most danger-prone areas such as the knees, sides of the thighs and buttocks, you will find the Kevlar lining. It’s 100% 250gsm Original DuPont Kevlar, so you’re getting a great amount of abrasion resistance if the worst does come to pass and you find yourself in a slide down the road.

It doesn’t come with any armour in the knees but it does have the pockets there for it, giving you the option for an aftermarket upgrade for a bit more impact protection. It may just look like ladies cut version of the men’s Ballistic Jeans but at least there’s not a bit of pink in sight, the available colours being black, blue or olive. The Black Salus Womens Jeans are available in waist sizes 6 [EU34] through to 20 [EU48] in standard and short leg lengths. Airoh Executive Convertible Motorcycle Helmet

Hey, everyone! I decided it was about time I took a look at another helmet. But I wanted to have a play with a brand I’m slightly less familiar with and it had to be a helmet that has all new features to me. So I had a dig around and then I remembered a helmet I’d seen not too long ago from Airoh– a convertible helmet that had the potential to be something really, really cool. I’ve since revisited that helmet and now here I am to report my findings on the Airoh Executive Convertible Motorcycle Helmet!

I first took a look at this helmet a while ago because it reminded me of a character from a sci fi game, I was attracted to this larger opening at the front of the helmet with a thinner chin bar that allows for a nice big visor and a massive vertical field of vision [and how much more awesome it would look if it had a dark smoke visor but I don’t think there are any]. The visor is extra wide too, so you’re not going to miss a thing going on in the world in front of you. It’s even pinlock ready with the insert provided, so you can just install it and worries of that large visor fogging up are a thing of the past.

It’s a convertible helmet because the chin bar can actually come off, converting the Airoh Executive into an open face lid. And just so you don’t lose the chin bar, it clips to the back of the helmet- it’s really gimmicky but I kind of love it for that. The inner side of the chin bar is lined with a sturdy foam giving it a reassuring bit of strength and where it joins on to the helmet is also pleasantly tough, giving a bit of peace of mind if I should ride in it, being a full-face lid kind of guy I like a solid chin bar.

The shell is thermoplastic, keeping the helmet tough but also nicely light weight considering all the little extras around this helmet that can sometimes lead to lids giving the neck and shoulders quite a workout. Extras like the gadgets keeping the chin guard in place, the unique storage mechanism that holds the chin guard on the helmet when not in use, the internal sun visor, there’s loads to this lid, so keeping it to a wearable weight has impressed me quite a bit.

The padding in the Airoh Executive is also of a surprising quality. It’s hypoallergenic as well as removable and washable but more than that it’s really snug. The padding around the neck area is definitely not lacking and gives a good fit and seal helping with safety and wind noise. This does mean that it’ll definitely feel too tight at first but give it a bit of time and try it on for a good few minutes before making a decision. The padding will give space after a bit of time, so take this into consideration as well; the more snug a fit you have while being comfortable- the safer the helmet is for you.

And those are all of the more unique features of the Airoh Executive but it does have lots of other little features that make life a little more comfortable. The internal sun visor for when the Sun is at just the right place in the sky to burn out your eyes. A micrometric buckle on the chinstrap to make fastening and unfastening the helmet nice an easy. Quick release visor if the original gets damaged or you just want a replacement.

The Airoh Executive is a great helmet. It’s unique and gives the rider loads of options while keeping them safe- it really does it’s best to make the rider be safer for themselves with all that extra field of view. It would make a brilliant helmet for touring, for the choice of all the configurations, the sun visor, all of that visible area so you can get in some quality sightseeing. The only thing you’d need to consider is that chin guard and have a think about your microphone placement if you ride with one as it may catch a bit more noise than another helmet that has a good chin curtain.

The Fox Main Motocross Goggles

Hey, everyone! I’m back to making blog posts about Fox Racing Motocross Gear for a while and there’s still a lot of it for me to cover. I’m moving on from helmets and Jerseys for a bit to write about the Fox Racing Motocross Goggles range and their accessories. I’ll give each individual model of motocross goggles their own separate blog entry, though. If I were to give each model -and- style an entry, I’d be writing forever. So I’ll dedicate this entry to the whole Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles range.

The Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles pretty much the flagship pair of goggles that we have from Fox here at Ghostbikes. They range from £29.99 to £39.99 and they’re available in a lot of colours and graphics including the normal model with clear lenses, the Sayak graphics with coloured lenses and the Race graphics with reflective lenses. They’re very popular because of their large viewport, allowing the wearer a wider range of peripheral vision, making them more alert to any hazards coming from the sides and any opposition creeping up on them.

They also have a triple layered face foam with a fleece liner, so they rest comfortably against the face and are a luxury compared to cheaper and less thoughtful brands. The Lexan lenses are replaceable, give the wearer’s eyes 100% protection against UV light, are anti-fog, and anti-scratch. you can get Fox Main Goggles Lenses in clear and transparent colours for up to £8.99. Or you can get the “Spark” lenses, a more mirrored or iridescent finish for up to £19.99.

If your vision gets too caked in dirt and mud, the goggles have tear-off posts so you can install them. So when your vision is covered in dirt, whip a tear-off away and keep riding. The tear-offs come in a set of 20 normal ones for £14.99 or you can get a pack of 14 laminated ones for £16.99.Or if you really fancy an upgrade for your goggles, you can get the Rip N Roll Total Vision System for these goggles and convert them into a roll off and tear-off hybrid for maximum performance potential at £32.99.

The Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles are the most “basic” of the Fox Racing Goggles and it’s still got a load of features and extras for you to customise your goggles with and truly make them your own. They’re even available in youth sizes too, so the little riders don’t have to miss out on getting their own pro-quality gear.

Take a Look at the The Bell RS-2 Motorcycle Helmet

Hey, everyone! This blog is a little bit of a treat for me. It’s been a while since I’ve done an entry on a Bell Helmet and as the proud owner of a Qualifier DLX that I use every day for work, it makes me happy to be able to take a look at another of their helmets. I -am- looking for a new helmet to keep on the shelf and use just for special occasions and was intending on trying another brand but Bell keeps drawing me back in.

In this blog entry we’ve got the new-at-Ghostbikes Bell RS-2 Motorcycle Helmet. It’s kind of like the big brother to the Bell Qualifier [they even share the same visor] but is the affordable little sibling to the Star series helmets. The RS-2 is a road helmet by design but demands the respect of a race helmet in several ways.

The main reason is the shell quality, a fibreglass construction that is rounded with very gentle slopes and hardly any harsh angles visible in it’s shape. These points make it a perfectly aerodynamic lid for minimal air drag and keep the helmet as light weight as possible. All of this adds to a passive protective feature that actively keeps you safe; the helmet helps you to ride for longer by preventing neck strain, making it a brilliant helmet for commuting to work, going on those longer rides out or making the most of a good track day.

Neck strain can lead to headaches which can affect can affect your concentration and also to stiff shoulders which can affect your handling of your machine. So this helmet’s shell features protect you by pitching in every little bit that it can to keep you from getting into an accident in the first place.

They are available from XS to XXL in three shell sizes and EPS liner sizes, so finding a great fit should be no problem. A great fit is for safety as well as comfort, so get one that’s good and snug and keep in mind that the padding and liners will give a little bit of room after you’ve worn it a while. But if you need a little more room in the padding, the cheek pads are interchangeable for a truly custom fit.

To help keep you comfortable the padding inside is plush and soft, fully removable for washing but you should’t need to do it often as the liner is the XT2 Silver Liner, a liner that’s stitched with silver that gives the interior of this helmet antibacterial properties.

The Bell RS-2 has an internal sun visor for those glaring rides into the sunset and is also compatible with eye wear for those of us bikers that wear glasses while riding. Speaking of visors– there are several visors available for the RS-2 ranging from Race visors to Nutra Fog II visors with prices from £55.19 to £89.72 at the time I’m writing this. And since it shares the same quick release visor as the Bell Qualifier DLX, that means the same Transitional visors that fit the Qualifier DLX are available too. No need to switch visors, just get the transitional version and you’re all set no matter the weather, a feature I enjoy wholeheartedly from my own Bell Qualifier DLX Helmet. It does leave the internal sun visor a bit redundant but damn is it cool.

For £249.99 this is a great helmet. It’s new, it’s well thought out, it’s comfortable, it’s really safe. The only thing this helmet could improve on is by providing a visor upgrade option for a pinlock ready visor with a pinlock insert- I’m interested in getting this helmet myself so I’ve been searching but with no success. That said, my Qualifier DLX isn’t Pinlock ready either but there are plenty of other products and little tricks and life hacks to making your visor more fog resistant. So it’s not a problem and certainly not a deal breaker- it doesn’t make this helmet any less of an awesome lid.

The Just1 J32 Pro Motocross Helmet

Hey, everyone! I’ve been going through the recent arrivals on our online store and a brand I’m not very familiar with came up. Just1 Motocross Helmets and Motocross Goggles were appearing before me and their gear looks awesome and looks to be made to a really great quality. So I decided I had to take a closer look at them and dedicate this blog entry to the Just1 J32 Pro Motocross Helmet.

If we go by looks alone, the Just1 J32 Motocross Helmet is already a winner. It’s a really cool looking helmet withe an aggressive style and looks as awesome as it is functional, especially in the Rockstar graphic. Usually anything with an energy drink branding on it like Monster or RedBull is a bit of a turn off for me but the Rockstar helmet is simple yet flashy at the same time and it grows on me the more I look at it. It does cost a little bit more, being officially licensed by Rockstar and everything though- the Just1 J32 Pro Rave Helmet costs just £139.99 whereas the Just1 J32 Pro Rockstar £149.99

The Shell is made of a high quality thermoplastic. It never sounds too impressive saying something is made out of plastic and it does cause people to change their minds when they discover a helmet is made out of the stuff. But don’t let it dissuade you from getting the helmet you want, the thermoplastics used in making motorcycle helmet shells is though stuff designed to disperse impact forces.

As long as you’re buying from licensed retailer, like us here at Ghostbikes, you can rest assured you’re buying a helmet that meets or exceeds the ECE 22.05 requirements. Meaning they’ve all passed the safety standards for the UK, even the ones with thermoplastic shells. If they were no good, they’d fail the tests. This helmet is even ACU Gold approved, making it so safe that it’s legal for use on tracks. The helmet only weight 1260g in a medium, which is actually really good for a helmet with a Thermoplastic shell.

The J32 has nice big air vents to allow plenty of air through the helmet and to keep the wearer cool and they’ve got mesh in them to keep things like debris or insects from getting in the helmet too.

The padding inside the Just1 J32 Pro is soft, comfortable and fully removable. This makes the padding easy to wash so you can keep your helmet fresh after a rough day off road. Just pop it all out, wash it in warm water in the sink, let it air dry completely and them pop it back in. It’s like your helmet is new all over again.

The padding even features a J.1.E.R. Emergency Cheek Pad Removal System, so if you do ever get into a bad accident, paramedics can pull out the padding and remove the helmet easily. For added safety the helmet has a neck brace ready profile. That means the collar of the helmet is shaped so that it can be comfortably used with a neck brace and will assist in protecting your neck.

If you’re of a smaller head size or shopping for a younger rider- the Just1 J32 Pro is also available in kids helmet sizes in the Moto-X graphic for £99.99 as well as the Rockstar graphic for £119.99, so the little riders don’t have to miss out on a really great quality helmet and they can look just as awesome as the adults.
