The Fox Main Motocross Goggles

Hey, everyone! I’m back to making blog posts about Fox Racing Motocross Gear for a while and there’s still a lot of it for me to cover. I’m moving on from helmets and Jerseys for a bit to write about the Fox Racing Motocross Goggles range and their accessories. I’ll give each individual model of motocross goggles their own separate blog entry, though. If I were to give each model -and- style an entry, I’d be writing forever. So I’ll dedicate this entry to the whole Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles range.

The Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles pretty much the flagship pair of goggles that we have from Fox here at Ghostbikes. They range from £29.99 to £39.99 and they’re available in a lot of colours and graphics including the normal model with clear lenses, the Sayak graphics with coloured lenses and the Race graphics with reflective lenses. They’re very popular because of their large viewport, allowing the wearer a wider range of peripheral vision, making them more alert to any hazards coming from the sides and any opposition creeping up on them.

They also have a triple layered face foam with a fleece liner, so they rest comfortably against the face and are a luxury compared to cheaper and less thoughtful brands. The Lexan lenses are replaceable, give the wearer’s eyes 100% protection against UV light, are anti-fog, and anti-scratch. you can get Fox Main Goggles Lenses in clear and transparent colours for up to £8.99. Or you can get the “Spark” lenses, a more mirrored or iridescent finish for up to £19.99.

If your vision gets too caked in dirt and mud, the goggles have tear-off posts so you can install them. So when your vision is covered in dirt, whip a tear-off away and keep riding. The tear-offs come in a set of 20 normal ones for £14.99 or you can get a pack of 14 laminated ones for £16.99.Or if you really fancy an upgrade for your goggles, you can get the Rip N Roll Total Vision System for these goggles and convert them into a roll off and tear-off hybrid for maximum performance potential at £32.99.

The Fox Racing Main Motocross Goggles are the most “basic” of the Fox Racing Goggles and it’s still got a load of features and extras for you to customise your goggles with and truly make them your own. They’re even available in youth sizes too, so the little riders don’t have to miss out on getting their own pro-quality gear.

Just1 J12 Carbon MX Helmet

Hey, everyone! There’s still a few Just1 items in our new arrivals list so I decided to write an entry on another of their helmets- the Just1 J12 Carbon Motocross Helmet. It’s a great motocross helmet, really sturdy, feather light weight and looks stunning. I thought I’d write an entry on it sooner rather than later since I managed to get some hands-on time with it and since we’ve only got the one on-site here at Ghostbikes HQ, I wanted to take the chance before someone snags such a great helmet for themselves.

So the first thing to note about the Just1 J12 is the shell material. It’s a rigid, full Carbon Fibre shell making the helmet it’s self really light but also really safe. Carbonfibre is some of the most advanced helmet shell material out there. We see it all over the place in the motorsporting world because of it’s light weight and strength, so despite the high price tag Carbon Fibre usually comes with- it’s well worth it for the level of protection it offers.

As well as being able to take more punishment from an accident they also actively protect the rider from getting into accidents in the first place by keeping the helmet light weight and preventing neck strain. Neck strain can lead to distracting headaches and stiff shoulders that can affect your handling, so a well designed motocross helmet such as this will keep you riding more comfortably for longer.

Speaking of comfort, the padding inside the helmet is soft and snug, keeping you cozy inside but it’s also got a couple of features of it’s own. The padding is fully removable- riding off road can be sweaty, muddy business so the padding of your motocross helmet can need washing regularly if you ride regularly. So having the liner be removable makes it much easier to wash and keep it fresh, just wash it in warm water and let it air dry naturally. The fabrics in the padding are also hygienically treated that helps to keep the padding fresher for longer.

The cheek pads also have a safety feature. They have the J.1.E.R Emergency Cheek Pad Removal System so that if you do happen to get into an accident, the cheek pads can be pulled out so that paramedics can easily remove the helmet.

The Just1 J12 Carbon has plenty of air vents, allowing lots of air in to cool the rider but they also have mesh in to keep from getting in as well. The helmet meets ECE 22.05 and is also ACU Gold Approved, so you can wear it on the track. And I should certainly think so if it’s good enough to be used by Team Rockstar Husqvarna.

Fox Racing Armour

Hey, everyone! I’m still making blog entries on the Fox Racing Motocross Gear and I’ve been looking forward to this one a fair bit. It’s not often that I see a whole range of Motocross armour in the same brand and offers a good selection of varied defense options for MX riders. But that’s why I like Fox Racing. There’s a whole range to choose from and they all offer different levels of protection with their own benefits and drawbacks. So choosing a Motocross gear loadout becomes a balance and an art that depends on your personal way of riding and what your needs are. So allow me to introduce you to some of the Fox Racing range of chest and body protection.

First up is the Fox Racing Titan Sport Armoured Jacket. I’m starting right away with one of my favourite choices if I were to pick any of these armours for myself. The Titan Sport Armoured Jacket is already a popular choice because it has chest, back, shoulder and elbow armour all in one. It’s light and it’s all attached to a breathable material to keep the rider from overheating. Its a great all-rounder set of armour that’s as easy as slipping on a jacket without adding a load of bulk. It’s even CE certified, so you know it’s safe stuff, at £119.99 it’s a very popular choice.

Next is the Fox Racing Proframe LC Chest Protector. A bit more conservative on the armour side of things and doesn’t have quite as much as armour coverage as the Titan Sport Armoured Jacket. But the armour the Proframe LC Chest Protector does have is tough and a bit more substantial that that of the Titan. A more solid protector defends the chest, spine and ribs. It’s also compatible with neck braces so you can maximise your protection around your neck. It’s easy to use, featuring a simple buckle system and is also CE rated. It’s a brilliant, low profile alternative that protects the core areas for just £114.99.

Third we have the Fox Racing Raptor Vest Chest Protector. You’ve probably already noticed that it’s an upgraded version of the Proframe LC chest Protector. It features the same tough armour around the chest and back but the armour around the ribs is a bit more beefy and it also features some shoulder protection. Like it’s little brother, the Raptor Vest Chest Protector is CE certified and compatible with neck braces giving you the option of increased safety for just £174.99

This last item is my favourite of the lot. Purely because it looks absolutely bullet proof. It looks like you could crash into a tree in this and come out feeling sorry for the tree. The Fox Airframe Pro Armoured Jacket means business. Naturally it’s heavier than the other selections of armour but the Airframe Pro offers unparalleled protection in the chest, ribs and spine. It’s CE certified, has moulded EVA foam, is compatible with neck braces and the shoulder armour is even removable. The only thing that will arguably keep your main body safer than this is actual bullet proof plating but that’s no good for motocross and weighs a ton. So get yourself an Airframe Pro for £249.99 instead.

And those are a some of the choices you have in motocross body armour from Fox Racing. There are naturally a load more options if we include elbow and knee armour or if you include other brands. The Fox Racing Instinct Motocross Boots

Hey, everyone! Yet another Fox Racing blog entry, we’re still very excited to have such a prestigious brand in our shop and I’m sure you’ll get tired of all the Fox blogs soon enough. But I have been saying for ages that I should blog about more MX stuff, right? So, you’re welcome and this time I’m presenting you with a pair of MX Boots- The Fox Racing Instinct Motocross Boots.

So lets get the worst thing about these boots out of the way so that all the cool stuff about them can lessen the sting of it later- The Fox Instinct Boots cost £409.99. I know! It’s a lot of money! But don’t let the price tag put you off just yet. With a lot of money comes a lot of reasons for it costing so much and despite what you may think; you’re not -just- paying for the world’s number 1 Motocross brand. Fox gear is made by MXers for MXers and a lot of research has gone into their gear to make it some of the most protective stuff on the market.

Your feet and shins are basically clad in armour when you’re wearing the Instinct Boots. They’re really, really sturdy but also really really comfortable. The hinged armour that surrounds the ankle serves a triple-threat purpose- Keeping you armoured, keeping things as flexible as an MX boot can allow while also having a hinge lockout to prevent the foot and ankle from hyper-extending in an accident.

The buckles and closing mechanisms on the boot are also really interesting, most boots I’ve been use a mechanism where a T-shaped rod slips into a groove and then the buckle snaps down, but the Instincts have something I’ve never seen before. Instead the ends of the buckle strap have a sort-of ball joint that sits in a concave shaped groove so the buckle can be snapped shut. It’s a really sturdy mechanism and makes closing the buckles a little more flexible and comfortable than on any other MX boot I’ve come across.

The boots have plenty of Duratac rubber on them too, providing lots of durable protection, shielding and grip. The boots have a low ride chassis too, that means your feet aren’t resting on top of massive, fat soles in the boots, raised up and away from the action. Instead your feet are kept close to the foot pegs allowing you to really feel and respond to what’s happening with the bike.

A big problem I see often in the shop is people needing boots with slimmer and smaller toe boxes so that they can shift properly. Fox Racing have also thought this through, keeping the toe area on the boot slim for a more fetching profile and practicality when shifting.

And if you really like these boots but the soles are wearing out on you, the soles are replaceable, so you can breathe new life into a good, reliable pair of Motocross boots. If at all possible, you really do need to come in store and try a pair on, you’ll feel the quality as soon as you slip your foot in and buckle up.

The Fox Racing V1 Motocross Helmet

Hey, everyone! I hope you’re not sick of my blogging about Fox stuff yet because I’m nowhere near done with them. Getting new Fox Racing MX gear has been very exciting and given me lots of new things to compare with other brands I’m much more familiar with.

In this blog entry I’m looking at the Fox Racing V1 Motocross Helmet. Just like it’s siblings, the V2 and V3, it shares that same, slightly weird [in a good way] shape that is aerodynamic and one of the more unique shell shapes I’ve seen. Unlike the other two models though, the V1 is less expensive at just £134.99. Most of the price difference comes from the shell material used for the V1. It’s made from an Injection Molded Polycarbonate and ABS, which is still very protective yet it’s a lot easier to work with than other, more expensive composite materials.

But like the others, the V1 has a few different sizes in the shells and EPS liners, so finding a Fox Motocross Helmet that fits well and looks good should be no problem at all. The helmets are really reliable too since they’ve exceeded the ECE22.05 and DOT standards for safety.

And speaking of looks- there’s a few different graphics options such as the Camo, the Matte Black and the Sayak with few more colour variances. Plus there’s also Fox MX Kits to match them, so looking awesome is going to be no problem at all.
