Hey, everyone! The weather is starting to get nicer and I’ve dared to wear my summer gloves on the ride to work. Great news! I can still feel my fingers and it felt great to have that much more freedom in my grip and responsiveness on the controls- All those elements that are dulled a bit by the fatter paddings of winter gloves.
But I’m now wearing my summer gloves and a lot more people are coming in-store to get theirs as well. So I thought I’d make a blog post on three of my favourite picks in the shop for under £50, over £50 and over £100.
So I’ll start with the lowest of my picks, in the under £50 range at just £39.99– The Richa Rock Motorcycle Sports Gloves. As soon as I slipped these gloves on my first thought was how comfortable they are and how hassle free they are to get on.
There’s plenty of flex in the fingers with the stretch paneling, they’re vented to allow air to flow through them and the solid knuckle armour inspires confidence in their protective capability without feeling cumbersome or digging in.
It helps that the palm on the glove is nice and simple too which keeps them light and flexible. Nothing overly complicated, just real leather with extra reinforced areas and a little padding on the scaphoid for good measure.
In my over £50 range, I’m looking at my first Dainese glove, the Dainese MIG C2 Motorcycle Gloves for just £74.95. Unfortunately these gloves aren’t listed online yet but they are out on display in our Preston showroom ready to look at and try on.
Another pair of very comfortable gloves that kept things simple to preserve flexibility and keep the wearer responsive on the controls. There’s very little to get in the way with the leather doing most of the work when it comes to protecting your skin except for the solid armour on the knuckle. It may look a little lacking but it’s still a fantastic and protective glove.
There’s even mesh sections on the fingers and perforations in the palms to keep air in the gloves circulated and keep your hands cool with a modest but durable bit of padding on the scaphoid just in case. Defintely a top notch glove at that price from a brand known worldwide for quality.
In my pick of favourites for over £100 I’ve chosen the Rev It Stellar 2 Motorcycle Gloves at £124.99.
I do love the Rev It brand, their jackets are comfortable, their pants are flattering when it comes to sizing but when it comes to gloves with them- that’s where I struggle a little bit.
They have a whole range of really protective gloves with well thought out armour placements all over them. But my hands must just be weird because they tend to be very uncomfortable for me and the armour ends up in places and joints that they shouldn’t be in. Which is why it made my day to come across the Stellar 2 gloves.
They’re a bit longer in the cuff than my previous picks but they’re still a vented sports glove making them great for the summer. Of all the Rev It Gloves I’ve tried, these or the most comfortable for me. Flexible, great leather for abrasion, dual composite protector on the knuckles with other extra padding and even another slider on the lower side of the palm for extra safety.
Our website says this one isn’t available in store but I’ve been into the Showroom and tried them on for myself, so they are definitely here. If you want to know if there’s a specific size in, just call up and ask!
BONUS GLOVE!
A quick bonus glove for you guys for under £25! For just £20.99 perhaps consider the Black Spike Motorcycle Gloves! Perhaps you’re new to riding and don’t want to spend too much until you really know what you want or maybe you just don’t need a glove so built up that it could survive atmospheric re-entry. The Black Spike gloves are still a great summer glove.
The Black Spike Gloves are a really comfy. Even with all of the hard armour to keep you protected, ventilation to keep you cool and even a reinforced palm with an extra grip section for control. They’re brilliant value for money and a best friend to newer riders or riders who need new gloves quick.
