Hey, everyone! I don’t know why but over Christmas I almost convinced myself that as soon as January came along, things were going to get warmer. The days are going to slowly get brighter, which is definitely a plus but the chill is here to stay for a bit longer yet. So treat yourself to some comfy, quality bike gear to help take that icy edge off of your winter rides.
Knox gear is fantastic for beating the chill, I’m convinced that my Knox Inner Gloves are the only reason I still have fingers. Now that we have the Knox Cold Killer Blue Collection– I’m looking into expanding my own collection of Knox goodies to make the rest of winter a bit more comfy.
A nice new pair of the Knox Cold Killers Blue Collection Under Gloves won’t go amiss. The backs of the hands and the fingertips are the main areas that the frost tends to sink its teeth into and a good windproof material can help to fight against that. Which is what the Cold Killer Blue Inner Gloves are made of- a quick drying, windproof soft shell material while still being quite thin, so you’re not adding a load of bulk around your hands, allowing your hands to handle the whether while letting you handle your bike properly. At £24.99 they’re a nice little investment and can really help to make the most of winter riding.
A Knox Blue Collection Neck Tube or Balaclava can make a world of difference to those cold rides. I find personally that having that blast of cold air in that area makes my shoulders tense and it affects the amount of control I have over the bike. Not to mention it’s just plain unpleasant. With a neck tube you can add to your protection against the wind and avoid that all together, keeping you warmer, more comfortable and in control.
I personally use a full balaclava. Protection from the wind around the neck area keeps me comfy and confident while the extra layer around the head keeps me warmer there, breathes new life into the fit of a well-loved work helmet and helps a little with road noise. At £24.99 for each of these, having one or not can mean the difference between a nice trip through the cold or one you’re cursing the whole ride.
Layer up with a Knox Blue Collection Wind Jacket or Sports Top. It’s that cold wind blasting against you that saps away at your heat, so by windproofing yourself, you’re going to fare a lot better at keeping warm. They’re both similar items but are a little different. The Wind Jacket is 100% wind proof with a fleece liner, making it a brilliant mid-layer bit of bike gear for keeping warm air between you and the unrelenting battering of icy air.
The Sports Top is similar, except the back of the jacket uses a 3D Fleece material making the jacket a little more breathable and does help to keep you a little more flexible than the Wind Jacket. In short- the Wind Jacket is all about being Windproof to keep in heat at £84.99. And the Sports Top is slightly less windproof on the back but you are more flexible and comfortable for £69.99.
Ever considered wearing pants under your pants to lock in some more heat? I used to have pairs of pajama pants for riding specifically for this reason, sometimes wearing as many as three layers on my legs just to keep warm. But the Knox Cold Killers Blue Collection Unisex Sports Pants would be much more effective at the job. It has a fully windproof front to help fight against that constant heat leeching blast of cold air while still being lightweight and doesn’t add a load of bulk under your usual bike trousers. The back half is a comfortable, more flexible 3d fleece material so that you can keep warm but your legs are still free to flex, allowing your knees to bend and you won’t have any issues getting on or off the bike. For £54.99 this is a much more effective alternative to layering up with extra garments that aren’t even designed for the job.
And that’s it for the Knox Cold Killers Blue Collection! They’re brilliant items designed specifically for bikers that have to brave the chill and are a handy investment, especially for tour bikers and commuters that do it on the day-to-day no matter what nature is throwing at us. Thanks for reading, everyone! Until next time!
